Coaching Licenses

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation=”left-to-right”]Arlington Soccer Club encourages coaches and assistant coaches to participate in the MA Youth Soccer/US Youth Soccer Coach License courses. Whether you have no experience coaching, or have been coaching for years, the G course is a great way to begin your coaching education. For those with no prior soccer experience, these courses help you develop the knowledge and skills to be a successful youth coach. For those with playing and/or prior coaching experience, these courses allow you to develop the strong foundation in player development, youth soccer coaching philosophy, and develop key developmentally appropriate coaching skills that will allow you to translate your prior knowledge and experience into highly effective youth coaching practice.

Coaching licenses focus on helping you develop the tools to lead your players as they develop into happy, fun, and skilled athletes. Through helpful tips and tricks, along with key information on child physical, social, and emotional development, these courses allow you to build the skills to keep sessions with your team running smoothly so you can focus on the fun parts of coaching. Through many years of working with players, US Youth Soccer has developed a framework for coach education and player development that will allow you to become the best coach you can be! Arlington Soccer Club will cover the cost of the G, F, and E licenses for all coaches and assistant coaches. For higher “national” licenses (D, C, B, & A), coaches should contact the club to determine reimbursement eligibility.

WHEN/WHERE: These courses are offered throughout the year at locations throughout Massachusetts. Arlington typically offers an online and/or classroom G course prior to the fall season, as well as classroom based G, F, & E courses on weekends in March.

THE COURSES

Each course builds upon the prior course(s) and coaches are required to take these courses in order (ex. the G is a prerequisite for the F).

G License Course – half day course – most applicable to coaching the U5-U10 age groups (offered online or in classroom)

When should I get my G? Since the G is where it all begins, it’s recommended that coaches and assistant coaches take the G course prior to coaching U5.

F License Course – full day or two half days course – most applicable to coaching the U7-U12 age groups (offered in classroom only, must be 16+ to take)

When should I get my F? The F license can be obtained immediately after the G. It is recommended that coaches and assistant coaches complete the F prior to coaching at the U9 level.

E License Course – two full day or four half day course – most applicable to coaching the U9-U14 age groups (offered in classroom only)

When should I get my E? There is a 5 month waiting period between the F and the E course. The E course provides coaches with additional tools, tips, and key developmental insight that is very helpful as they move to more advanced coaching that begins at the U9 age group, develops further with the progression to 8v8 fields at U11, and extends through the 11v11 play at U14. It is recommended that coaches and assistant coaches take the E course prior to coaching the U9, or at the latest, the U11, age group.

D License Course – four full day course – most applicable to coaching U11-U16 age groups (offered in classroom only)

When should I get my D? There is a 5 month waiting period between the E and the D course. The D course provides another level of knowledge of concepts of play that apply to high level play.
